Cass Casswell Bands

Cass has become a strong supporter of Warmley Jazz Club with his Trio, and the Golden Jazz Decades featuring the fabulous voice of Sinead McCabe. Other bands that Cass brings to the club include his 6 piece 'New Orleans Update' and his 7 piece 'Storyville Strutters' playing general New Orleans Jazz and early New Orleans Jazz respectively.

The Manhattan Orchestra featuring Catherine Sykes

This amazing 10 piece band shoehorned into the club rooms with the beautiful voice of Catherine Sykes upbeat tempo songs and soulful blues.

Steve Graham Band

The Steve Graham Band with Des Bacon on reeds; Steve Graham trumpet; Tom Whittingham trombone; Justina Verinder bass and Mike Cox banjo

 

Tom Whittingham's Wonderland Band

A welcome return to this band featuring Clive and Tom Whittingham, John Massey, Keith Hall and Des Bacon playing a lively mix of trad and blues with some brilliant fast paced washboard pieces from Tom.

 

The Panama Jazz Band

Featuring Tom Doughty: trumpet and vocals, Clive Johnstone: clarinet, saxophone and vocals, Alan "Oggy" Hogg: banjo, guitar and vocals, Keith Tolley: bass, John Coad: drums.

Dave Martin's Jabbo Five

Playing in the style of Jabbo Smith - hence the name Dave Martin's Jabbo Five. The line-up of cornet, clarinet/saxophone, banjo, piano and tuba allows an exciting, lively and uncluttered interpretation of the music of Jabbo Smith and his Rhythm Aces

Henry’s Hot Six

Henry’s Hot Six is now featuring as a regular on the Warmley Jazz circuit

Henry's Bootblacks

This classic orchestra was incorporated in 1964 with the specific aim of recreating the 'hot' jazz of the 1920's as played by such as King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington.

An early residency at the Ship Inn on Redcliffe Hill Bristol lasted until its demolition due to road widening in1967. Nowadays the band makes guest appearances at the Old Duke and jazz clubs throughout the south west. Many radio broadcasts and albums have been recorded over the years and a CD is currently in preparation.

 

The standard line up is Nick White, Hugh Roberts and Tim Thackray on reeds; Andy Champion and Ceri Williams on trumpet; Paul Munnery on trombone; Mike Lancaster on sousaphone; Joe Farler on banjo and guitar; Tom Whittingham on drums and percussion and Henry Davies on piano and trumpet. Henry also fields a six piece version the band entitled Henry's Hot Six

Dennis Armstrong's Bristol Blue Five

Traditional jazz band playing in the style of Louis Armstrong (no relation!) and King Oliver.

Bob Reynolds New Society Jazz Band

The band has its roots in playing New Orleans Jazz with a happy sound suitable for all occasions and play a wide repertoire of authentic jazz, blues, and melodies. It is led by local trombone player Bob Reynolds, together with west country musicians who are bound together by a common love and enjoyment of the music they play.

Tim Newman's Celebration Jazz Band

The Band was formed in 1983 and the following year they made a successful tour of Spain for the Association of Cultural Activities playing at the third International Jazz Festival at Alcala, Madrid.
The bands repertoire relies on popular songs of yesteryear, rags, marches and spirituals with composers such as Handy, Joplin, Morton, Armstrong and Oliver much in evidence. Current members of the Band are Tim Newman, Roger White,(Founder members) Pete Dine (18 years). Clive Johnson (5years), Clarence Nugent, Gerry Bath and Pete Middleton
